The Public Service Commission (PSC) has set a goal to appoint 30,000 civil servants in 2026, up from around 25,000 last year, as part of efforts to replace retirees and strengthen public service delivery, PSC Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus said.

Applications for civil service jobs dropped by about 200,000 from 2024 to 2025, but officials remain optimistic that interest will rebound, noting that the new hiring target responds to workforce gaps and service needs.
PSC emphasised the importance of public-sector continuity and urged eligible candidates to submit applications as part of efforts to ensure effective government operations across departments.
