KUALA LUMPUR – DAP’s Ramkarpal Singh has urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to exercise extreme caution in recommending individuals for top judicial posts, following leaked Judicial Appointments Committee (JAC) minutes alleging interference involving a senior judge. Ramkarpal stressed that appointments of the chief justice, Court of Appeal president, and chief judges of Malaya and Sabah/Sarawak depend on Anwar’s advice. He warned that appointing anyone implicated without thorough investigation risks eroding public trust. While police are probing the leak under several laws, Ramkarpal criticised the absence of focus on the alleged misconduct itself, stressing the judiciary’s integrity must be fully protected.
