A Prime Minister’s tenure depends on maintaining the confidence of the majority in Parliament. Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali, Pejuang’s Information Chief, highlighted that many Malaysians mistakenly believe a Prime Minister can only be changed through elections.

He clarified that under the Federal Constitution, a Prime Minister can be replaced if they lose majority support, even outside of election periods. Winning a confidence vote once does not guarantee security until the next election. Instead, a Prime Minister must maintain parliamentary confidence throughout their term. He made these remarks during a press conference by NGO Islam Melayu Malaysia on Monday.
