A debate has been ongoing between netizens on social media regarding the Halal certificates in eateries. It appears that a number of chain restaurants do not have Halal certificates. But, some users state that the preparations and cleanliness can still be halal despite not having it.

Additionally, other users are saying that it is better for JAKIM to lower the cost for an establishment to achieve the Halal status. Many feel that it is important to have the certificate as it not only certifies the religious preparations of the dishes, but also the cleanliness of the establishment.
