KUALA LUMPUR — A 29-year-old woman from Terengganu has been identified as Malaysia’s sole holder of Rh null blood, famously called “Golden Blood.” Globally, only about 50 individuals share this rare type, making her discovery extraordinary.

She learned of her unique blood group in 2016 after donating blood, and has since embraced the responsibility of maintaining her health. In 2024, after a road accident, she immediately informed rescuers of her rare condition to ensure proper treatment. While grateful for this gift, she acknowledges the risks, especially during marriage and pregnancy, and prays for continued strength and health.
“At first, it was hard to believe and accept that I was the only person in the country with this blood type. However, after doctors explained the significance and uniqueness of this blood type, I gradually accepted it and understood the responsibility that comes with it. Since then, I have taken better care of my health, fully aware of the risks involved,” she said. Photo: FMT
