The Ringgit opened stronger today at 4.1540/1660 against the US dollar, continuing its upward momentum amid sustained buying interest and a weaker greenback. Bank Muamalat chief economist Dr Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid expects the currency to hover around RM4.15–RM4.16, supported by improved sentiment after equities rallied on hopes of an end to the US government shutdown.

Following 41 days of closure, the US Senate voted to reopen, offering relief to markets and workers. Analysts say delayed economic data, including the September jobs report, will guide the Federal Reserve’s December policy meeting. The Ringgit also strengthened against most major and ASEAN currencies.
