RM1 Million Lawsuit Now Filed Over Custodial Death

The family of a man who passed away in police custody is suing for RM1 million in damages. Faruq Abdullah’s widow and a relative filed the suit against the police and the Malaysian government, citing negligence leading to Faruq’s death on June 3, 2021, at South Klang police station. 

RM1 Million lawsuit 

Lawyer M Manoharan confirmed the lawsuit, which includes demands for general, aggravated, and exemplary damages. The family alleges Faruq was detained for a gas cylinder theft investigation and claims he was subjected to abuse resulting in his death. No inquest has been held since the incident.
