The Hong Kong High Court has sentenced four former Chanel warehouse workers to prison for orchestrating a multimillion‑dollar theft of luxury goods.
The men exploited disposal protocols at the Goodman Interlink warehouse in Tsing Yi, intercepting merchandise slated for destruction and stockpiling it instead.

Identified as the mastermind, Ng Yiu‑lun received seven years in prison. His accomplices — Cheung Ka‑wai (five years and three months), and brothers Ho Tung‑shan and Ho Tsz‑yin (four years each) — were also convicted.
Ng controlled access to the freight elevator, enabling the scheme, and offered bribes of up to HK$50,000 (RM26,000) to secure cooperation.
Between 2016 and 2017, the group stole hundreds of items, including handbags and wallets worth over HK$19 million (RM9.9 million). CCTV footage eventually exposed the operation, capturing workers bypassing shredding procedures.
On February 2, 2017, police intercepted Cheung at a rental van, recovering 601 handbags and 123 wallets. Additional stolen goods were later found in a Kwun Tong storage unit.
Judge Yau Tak‑hong granted slight sentence reductions, citing the immediate return of stolen items and delays in legal proceedings. The case underscores vulnerabilities in luxury disposal protocols and the high stakes of insider theft.
