PUTRAJAYA: The government has set a new price for RON95 fuel at RM1.99 per litre, effective Tuesday, Sept 30. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the move aims to protect ordinary Malaysians while ensuring subsidies reach the right groups.

Starting the same date, large companies and foreign nationals will no longer qualify for subsidised fuel, and will instead pay RM2.60 per litre. Anwar announced the measure during the Prime Minister’s Department’s monthly assembly, stressing that subsidy rationalisation is necessary to curb misuse and reduce fiscal pressure while safeguarding the welfare of citizens.

RON95 sold to foreigners and big companies will be priced at RM2.60, not RM2.90.
