Russia has increased its scholarship quota for Malaysian students, doubling the number of fully-funded places to 40 slots for the 2026/2027 academic intake under its government scholarship programme, officials said.

About 700 Malaysians are currently studying in Russia, primarily in fields such as medicine and architecture, and the expanded quota aims to encourage more students to pursue higher education opportunities abroad.
Russia’s ambassador to Malaysia highlighted the strengthened educational ties between the two countries and said the increased scholarships reflect growing demand and cooperation in academic exchange programmes.
