Sabah, Sarawak MPs Warn Against ‘One Size Fits All’ Education Blueprint

Sabah and Sarawak MPs have urged that the Malaysia Education Blueprint (2026–2035) be implemented inclusively, reflecting infrastructure realities in both states. Rodiyah Sapiee (GPS-Batang Sadong) highlighted dilapidated preschools, shortages of trained teachers and classroom facilities, stressing that a “one size fits all” approach is unsuitable.

Vivian Wong (PH-Sandakan) echoed concerns, citing dropouts linked to weak infrastructure. Dr Radzi Jidin (PN-Putrajaya) estimated 12,500 classrooms would be needed by 2027 for new Year One entrants. Mohd Shafie Apdal (Warisan-Semporna) called for stronger alignment between training and industry needs. PM Anwar Ibrahim pledged RM800 million and 18,000 new teachers to meet urgent demands.
