RM9.7 Million Approved for Sabah Street and Traffic Light Maintenance

The Works Ministry (KKR) approved RM9.7 million for maintaining street and traffic lights in Sabah. Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan stated that RM7 million was allocated in January, and an additional RM2.7 million in August.

In Tawau, RM1.05 million was approved to address street light maintenance. Ahmad clarified that unmaintained street lights are not the main cause of accidents, citing a MIROS study. The study found 80% of accidents were due to negligence, 13% to road surface issues, and 7% to vehicle conditions.
