Sabah Umno has backed Bersatu’s claims of selective prosecution in the state’s mining licence scandal, urging fair action against all implicated. Sabah Umno strategic communications chief Datu Rosman Datu Ahir Zaman questioned why only two assemblypersons were charged, despite reports of more being involved. He stressed that justice must be upheld regardless of political affiliation. Bersatu vice-president Ronald Kiandee earlier questioned the omission of six GRS leaders in prosecutions. The scandal erupted after videos and WhatsApp chats from businessman Albert Tei implicated several Sabah lawmakers, including state assembly speaker Kadzim Yahya. Public trust in authorities is at stake.
