Selangor Considering De-listing Forest Reserve

1 min read

According to the local news, a Selangor MB has discussed that the state needs to de-list its forest reserve. This has gotten netizens raging against the idea. Companies are threatening the state government with a lawsuit as the forest is apparently ‘affecting their business.’

Others mentioned that money can always be made through one way or another. However, removing forest will never bring them back as the site will be used for development. Threats have been made to that said MB by saying that the next term, the voters will choose someone else to lead.

Recommendations on implementing stricter laws for deforestation by requesting more permits and procedures were suggested by the netizens. Netizens are calling the state government hypocrites for forcing everyone to stop drinking plastic straws or using plastic bags, yet they still are considering proceeding with deforestation.
