The offence occurred on January 2 at a petrol station in Kulai. If he fails to pay, Long faces nine months in jail. His lawyer sought leniency, citing financial hardship and family responsibilities, while prosecutors urged deterrence.
Police found he had covered parts of his plate to mimic a Malaysian registration. Authorities reminded the public that tampering with license plates is illegal and punishable.
