SF Coffee Chain Posts Letter Explaining 7.5% Price Hike

San Francisco’s Andytown Coffee Roasters has raised drink prices by 7.5%, posting in-store letters to explain why. Co-owner Lauren Crabbe said the increase reflects the cumulative impact of higher coffee costs, lingering tariffs, rising supply-chain prices, and a 20% jump in employee healthcare premiums.

Extreme weather in Asia and Brazil has tightened global coffee supply, while labor shortages in Central and South America add pressure. At the same time, demand for specialty coffee is surging in Asia and the Middle East. Crabbe emphasized transparency, noting that honesty with customers is essential as the era of cheap coffee comes to an end.
