PUTRAJAYA: Lead defence counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah told the High Court that if former 1MDB lawyer Jasmine Loo Ai Swan can assert innocence without showing any documents, then Datuk Seri Najib Razak should also be freed.

During closing submissions in the 1MDB-Tanore trial, Shafee said Najib’s transactions were fully documented, unlike Loo’s, whom he described as a fugitive who fled with Low Taek Jho (Jho Low).
“This is the critical difference,” Shafee told Justice Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah, emphasising that Najib’s financial trail had full paper evidence supporting his version of events.
