New: Silat instructor, 59, kisses student, 14, on forehead & sends her sexual messages

SINGAPORE, Sept 24, 2026 – A 59‑year‑old silat instructor was sentenced to five months and five weeks’ jail after pleading guilty to molesting his 14‑year‑old student and engaging in sexual communication with her. The Straits Times reported the sentencing took place on Sept 22, with two other molestation charges considered.

Court documents revealed the victim began silat lessons in November 2024. The offender asked her to perform the traditional Malay salam greeting but instead kissed her forehead, later repeating the act twice before kissing her cheek near the lips. In February 2025, he sent her sexually charged messages via Telegram using disappearing texts, attempting to groom her and urging secrecy.

The victim’s mother discovered the messages and lodged a police report. The offender was arrested on Mar 18, 2026. He received leniency for pleading guilty early and will begin serving his sentence on Oct 12, 2026.
