This framework, developed after a public consultation in 2022, sets guidelines for importing, farming, and processing insects. The approved insects have a history of human consumption. Products must be properly labeled and will undergo safety inspections. The guidelines reference practices from the EU, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, and Thailand. No international standards currently exist for insect consumption.
