The whole issue has gotten more interesting as the Singapore High Commissioner to Malaysia has apologized for Jocelyn Chia’s remarks. Furthermore, it is said that she is no longer a Singaporean. He states that her jokes and opinions about Malaysia have nothing to do with what they perceive their neighboring country as.
Jocelyn Chia is no longer singaporean?
Malaysian netizens are still showing their anger towards her. They state that she isn’t funny, and now is not even a Singaporean anymore. Furthermore there are some who speculate that she might be an American citizen now. Others are urging to move past this situation as they refuse to give her additional attention.
There are some netizens who state that they will never look at Singaporeans the same way again. Regardless, Chia is merely one individual, and there are millions of others living in our neighboring country who are completely different people. Overgeneralization is not the way to move forward regarding this situation, said another netizen.
