Ong Hiap Leong, 58, has been sentenced to two months and two weeks in jail following the discovery of his bigamous second marriage. Despite being married to his first wife since 1992, Ong traveled to Las Vegas in 2017 to register a civil marriage with his long-term partner, Loh Wai Han. For over eight years, Ong maintained a double life, continuing to reside with his first wife while secretly maintaining his second household.
Secret marriage
The deception unraveled in June 2025 when his relationship with Loh soured, leading her to report him to the police. Investigations revealed that Ong only confessed the truth to his first wife months after the probe began. Under Singapore law, the second marriage was deemed void from the start. Although Ong successfully annulled the Nevada marriage in late 2025, the court emphasized the gravity of his actions, citing the prolonged period of deception and the impact on both families involved.
