Singaporean Lives Comfortably in Thailand, Flying to SG 1x Week

A 39-year-old Singaporean, now lives a comfortable lifestyle in Chiang Mai, Thailand, working just 3–8 hours a week. After being retrenched in 2024, the former Google employee pivoted to part-time lecturing at NUS, earning S$2,000–S$4,000 monthly, which covers his weekly flights, rent, and expenses in Thailand.

With a S$2.5 million investment portfolio, he practices “geographical arbitrage”, earning in Singapore while living affordably abroad. He also runs a coaching business and creates YouTube content. Though he enjoys the relaxed pace, the man admits the supercommute is tiring and misses some aspects of corporate life — but values freedom more.
