Just three days into her retirement, a Singaporean retiree lost S$100,000 (approx. RM324,000) to a scam. The 65-year-old woman, who retired on January 6, received a call on January 9 from someone claiming to be from Shopee’s customer service.

Believing her bank account was involved in money laundering, she followed the scammer’s instructions and transferred funds. Despite her sister and niece’s efforts to intervene, she lost her life savings. The woman reported the incident to the police, who confirmed an ongoing investigation.
