Son watches in horror as dad is swept away by strong river currents during fishing trip

In Jitra, a man tragically drowned while fishing in Sungai Kampung Paya Parit Lateh. Ismail Hashim, 49, tied a rope around his waist to cross the river but disappeared after submerging multiple times. His son, Muhammad Khairul Ikhwan, 20, helplessly witnessed the incident as he couldn’t swim. A search-and-rescue operation involving 30 personnel, including a K9 unit, is underway, covering a 1-2 km radius of the river. The family remains devastated by the loss.
