PETALING JAYA: Dewan Rakyat Speaker Johari Abdul has barred MPs from calling PAS a “deviant sect party” or accusing colleagues of being “kafir.” He said such language only fuels hostility and sets a poor example for younger Malaysians observing parliamentary proceedings.
Deviant Sect?
Johari stressed that the terms were sensitive, divisive, and did not contribute to healthy debate. The directive followed an exchange last week when RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) questioned PAS MPs if they would accept being labelled a “deviant sect party,” sparking a ruckus in the House.
