MCA is grappling with internal conflict over its political alignment ahead of the next general election. The party aims to distance itself from the Madani administration, but there is disagreement on whether to remain part of Barisan Nasional (BN). Former MCA vice-president Ti Lian Ker claims most MCA divisions support quitting the Madani government while staying in BN, citing a May political bureau decision. However, MCA secretary-general Chong Sin Woon denies any such decision was made, stating that the bureau only discussed the party’s future without resolving to leave either the Anwar Ibrahim government or BN.
