SINGAPORE – Increasing numbers of free-roaming chickens have been spotted across Singapore, leaving residents curious about their growing presence. Stomper Margaret reported sightings in Choa Chu Kang, Punggol, Kovan and even Orchard, noting that sometimes entire chicken families wander together. While stray dogs have largely disappeared, chickens appear to be thriving in estates and public spaces.

The Ministry of National Development (MND) revealed it receives about 2,000 feedback cases annually regarding free-ranging chickens. NParks, which manages these populations, adopts a community- and science-based approach, working with town councils and grassroots groups. Currently, there are no plans to relocate the birds.
