A University of Oklahoma student sparked controversy after submitting a Bible-based essay rejecting the concept of multiple genders in a psychology class taught by a transgender instructor.
Student’s Anti-Gender Essay
Samantha Fulnecky received a failing grade for not addressing the prompt and relying on personal ideology over empirical evidence. Her essay described gender diversity as “demonic” and claimed children suffer from such beliefs.
Graduate assistant Mel Curth, who graded the paper, was later removed amid a religious discrimination complaint. Another instructor defended the grade, citing the essay’s harsh tone and lack of empathy. The university is investigating but hasn’t named those affected.
