It is not such a bad result in the end though Ilham Centre is now known for its prowess to produce great surveys. Let us put it this way: With this result, it seems we are heading for a status quo in the six states.
The survey is dated July this year, revealing that only one in four Malays in the six states holding elections this Saturday are satisfied with Anwar Ibrahim as PM. While just 24 percent of Malay respondents approved of Anwar, his approval ratings were substantially higher among the Chinese (88 percent) and Indians (81 percent) – obviously. This shows no change from Nov 2022.

Survey Results

Out of the 2000 plus surveyed, 42 percent are happy with Anwar. Discontent is higher among Kelantanese (90 percent), Terengganu folks(79 percent) and Kedahans (73 percent). Anwar garnered the most support in his home state of Penang (70 percent), trailed by Selangor (62 percent) and Negeri Sembilan (62 percent).

Without the focus on Anwar, respondents in Penang, Selangor, and Negeri Sembilan rated their state governments higher in areas such as welfare, economic direction, clean water, waste management, and land management compared to those in Kelantan, Kedah, and Terengganu. A big plus for PH in the 3 states.
Also most of those pinged in Selangor, Penang and Negeri Sembilan says they are willing to vote PH and BN. For kelantan, 52 are not sure if they will vote PH-BN, Terengganu 40 percent but in Kedah it is tighter with only 21 percent not sure if they will vote PH-BN. With the survey results, there may be a 3-3 draw in the end.
