Recently, Syed Saddiq, a prominent figure in the Malaysian political scene was seen taking the Kelana Jaya LRT. A netizen claimed that he wasn’t a ‘gentleman’ for not offering other ladies seats on the train.
However, most netizens mentioned that only frequent LRT users would know that if you get a seat on the train, you’d sit. A journey on the LRT from one end to the other may take more than an hour, thus most commuters would tend to not leave their seats. This is especially for those traveling long distances aboard the train.
A female netizen replied saying that just because she is a woman, she feels that a man should not give her his seat. She said as a woman, she’d rather be seen as an equal and someone who is pregnant, disabled, or elderly deserves the seat more than an able bodied woman.
