KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran politician Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah believes Malaysia’s prolonged political instability can only be resolved if Umno returns to lead the government. The former Gua Musang MP said Umno remains central to the nation’s stability, but must first remove self-serving leaders and rebuild integrity. Despite its poor showing in GE15, he said Umno still commands the largest membership base and has historically shaped Malaysia’s direction.

Razaleigh urged the party to restore strong, principled leadership rooted in fairness and responsibility, warning that continued division would weaken both Umno and the country. He added that the upcoming Umno general assembly in November will be crucial in determining the party’s role and Malaysia’s political future.
