Terengganu Criticised for Inconsistent Shariah Compliance in Sports

Terengganu has been criticised for failing to showcase Shariah-compliant Muslim athletes despite frequently promoting this aspect, including barring female gymnasts from the Malaysia Games (Sukma) in Sarawak.

Wan Hasbi Wan Ahmad, the state’s Amanah Youth Chief, noted that the state still sent Muslim women athletes to Sukma 2024, where they wore non-Shariah-compliant attire. 

However, a viral screen shot on X claims that the Sukma diver is no longer a person from the state, says an EXCO. But, the source of the story is unavailable, which means that it is unreliable. Users are particularly upset at the screenshot.
