Tesla Suspends Factory Projects in Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia

Tesla has suspended plans to build factories in Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia, focusing instead on charging stations. This decision, reported by The Nation on August 7, affects factory plans globally except for those in China, the US, and Germany.

Additionally, the company laid off executives overseeing Southeast Asian production. Despite this, the company continues to develop charging infrastructure in Malaysia, adhering to a previous deal. 

Starlink, another Musk enterprise, also secured approval to operate in Malaysia. This strategy reflects the company’s shift away from further Asian investments.
