A North Carolina jury delivered a dramatic verdict against TikTok influencer Brenay Kennard, ordering her to pay US$1.75 million to Akira Montague for destroying her marriage. The court found Brenay liable for an affair with Akira’s then-husband, Tim Montague, a relationship Akira said shattered her family, caused severe emotional distress and derailed her health.
TikTok Scandal
The judgment includes US$1.5 million for alienation of affection and US$250,000 for engaging in an intimate relationship with a married man. Akira had originally sought US$3.5 million in damages. Her lawyer called the ruling long-overdue justice in one of the few US states allowing such lawsuits.
