SINGAPORE – A foreigner’s TikTok post describing Singapore as “the most societally and professionally toxic city to live in” has triggered backlash online. User @brbcatchingflights, known as Ms D, shared her views after a six-month stay, citing 25 reasons including strict societal control, lack of warmth, and a cutthroat culture.

She claimed Singaporeans are “obsessed with rules” and that mental health is undervalued. In a follow-up post, Ms D acknowledged no city is perfect but reiterated her discomfort, saying she “totally integrated” yet found the environment “cold” and draining for emotional or creative individuals.
