A man driving along an expressway in Johor Bahru was allegedly pulled over by a traffic police officer and asked to pay RM2,000 to avoid being taken to the station. According to a viral Facebook post on Mar. 13, the officer inspected the driver’s mobile phone and found evidence of a “4D” lottery ticket purchase, which is illegal if bought through unlicensed channels.

The officer allegedly demanded RM1,000 each from the driver and his wife. When the wife refused over the phone, she later negotiated a reduced payment of RM200 per person. The driver withdrew the cash from an ATM and handed it over. The incident has sparked public concern over alleged misconduct.
