New: Tragic dump truck overpass accident causes collapse killing pickup driver on Bang Na-Trat

A pedestrian overpass on Bang Na-Trat Road in Samut Prakan’s Bang Bo district collapsed Thursday morning after a dump truck with its raised bed struck the structure at around 9:15am. The falling concrete crushed a pickup truck, killing its 59-year-old driver instantly. The 65-year-old dump truck driver sustained minor injuries and was taken into custody for questioning.

Rescuers deployed cranes to clear the 16-metre damaged section, restoring traffic after three hours. The Highways Department noted the bridge, costing 10 million baht originally, was vulnerable to lateral impacts. Engineers will assess if full demolition is needed.
