Parents, guardians, and vehicle owners will be prosecuted if they allow underage children to drive. Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook emphasized this to ensure accountability. He noted that such incidents are dangerous and not new.
Transport Minister emphasizes parental responsibility in underage driving
“We can’t charge the children, but parents must be responsible. How can the Ministry of Transport monitor every family? It’s the parents’ duty,” he said at a press conference.
This statement followed an incident where a 10-year-old boy drove his parents’ car, causing an accident in Seremban. The case is being investigated under various sections of the Road Transport Act and the Child Act.
