Trial for Dutch Model’s Mother’s Suit Against Police, Government Now Set for Oct 14

The lawsuit filed by Christina Carolina Gerarda Johanna Verstappen, the mother of Dutch model Ivana Esther Robert Smit, against the Malaysian police, the Home Minister, and the government will commence on October 14 at the High Court.

Trial for Dutch Model’s Mother’s Suit Against Police, Government Now Set for Oct 14

Verstappen is suing for alleged breach of statutory duties and negligence in the investigation of her daughter’s death. The court has scheduled 18 days for the trial. Verstappen’s daughter died on December 7, 2017, after falling from a condominium owned by an American couple. Dissatisfied with initial rulings, Verstappen’s appeals led to the reinstatement of her suit and further investigation orders.
