Two More Weeks For Graveyard To Be Full

Kuala Lumpur: There are only about 50 plots left in the Muslim Cemetery in Jalan Kubur, Pantai Dalam says MP Fahmi Fadzil.

He says the matter was discussed with the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department and Masjid Jamek Al-Khadijiah in a virtual meeting last Friday.

“The problem is becoming more alarming as in the last four to five months the number of deaths has increased at a relatively high rate.

“Sometimes as many as five to six deaths are recorded a day between the causes of the cemetery space is declining,” he told Sinar Harian on Sunday.

Fahmi says several new sites had been planned to overcome this problem, but it takes time to change the ownership status of the Federal Land Commissioner to the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council.

“The process of preparing the area as a cemetery is also expected to take time after the status change process is completed, but the results of the recent discussions are expected to speed up the process,” he says.
