KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27 — Tensions between Umno Youth and DAP Youth reignited as their leaders exchanged sharp remarks over political cooperation. Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh challenged his DAP counterpart, Woo Kah Leong, to urge DAP to sever ties with Umno, accusing Woo of making empty statements. The row followed Woo’s comments that the youth wings of Umno, DAP, and MCA “walk different paths” and cannot work together.

Akmal hit back via Facebook, calling on DAP to “end the relationship” rather than just talk. In response, Woo accused Akmal of misrepresenting his remarks and practising “double standards,” sarcastically referencing Umno Youth’s recent Jalur Gemilang blunder. The clash reflects persisting friction between coalition youth leaders despite their parties’ partnership in government.
