The government has been urged to enforce stricter regulations on the sale of alcohol to underage individuals or through illegal means, particularly in Muslim-majority areas. Gulam Muszaffar, UMNO’s Federal Territories Information Chief, highlighted that many convenience stores in Kuala Lumpur are reported to violate the rules set by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL). This has sparked concern among the public, with local authorities criticized for lax enforcement. Gulam emphasized that while the rights of non-Muslims to consume and sell alcohol are respected, regulations must apply equally to all citizens. He urged Minister Nga Kor Ming to adopt a practical approach in addressing this issue.
