Kuala Lumpur: According to The Independent in Singapore, talks are on for a unity government in Malaysia.
“Currently, talk is rife among political leaders on the need for a unity Government. Race-based politics obsession entrenched in Malaysia has become a major stumbling block to unifying a multiracial nation. It will continue to worsen if a unity government is not in the making,” writes a columnist for the online paper.
However, there are many stumbling blocks that could prevent the formation of a unity government. Instead, a minority government seems likely because no party has the absolute majority in Parliament.
