LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – A UPS cargo plane crashed and exploded in a massive fireball while taking off from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport on Tuesday, killing at least three people and injuring 11. Governor Andy Beshear said the toll could rise as emergency crews continue operations at the scene.
UPS Cargo Plane Crashes
The McDonnell Douglas MD-11, built in 1991, was departing for Honolulu when flames appeared on its left wing before the aircraft went down. Louisville police said the airport remains closed as safety teams assess damage. UPS confirmed it is cooperating fully with investigators.
