MCA President Datuk Seri Dr. Wee Ka Siong has called for Barisan Nasional (BN) to contest the upcoming Melaka and Johor state elections independently using its own iconic dacing logo. Speaking at MCA’s 77th-anniversary celebration, Wee emphasized that it is both “natural and reasonable” for the coalition to seek a fresh mandate to govern independently, following its previous successes in both states.

With the Melaka polls anticipated later this year and Johor expected in early 2027, Wee directed state liaison committees to activate their election machinery immediately. He demanded that a comprehensive list of candidates and campaign strategies be submitted to the party headquarters within a month. While Melaka currently operates under a Unity Government model, Wee maintains that BN must assert its own identity to effectively recapture the mandate from voters in these traditional strongholds.
