Kedah Menteri Besar, Sanusi Md Nor, said his absence during the recent flood disaster in Kedah was due to an official visit to Kumamoto, Japan, to study underground dam operations. Sanusi explained that the trip was planned months in advance, back in April, and occurred before the floods began. He emphasized that had he known floods would hit Kedah, he would have stayed. “Even if I were here, the floods wouldn’t recede; they recede by the will of God, not mine,” he stated during a visit to the Temporary Evacuation Center in Pendang on Sunday.
