New: Woman, 24, dies on Qantas flight from Melbourne just before takeoff

A 24-year-old woman, Manpreet Kaur, died suddenly from suspected tuberculosis while flying from Melbourne to Delhi on a Qantas flight. Kaur, feeling unwell, collapsed and died before the plane departed on June 20. An aspiring chef, she was traveling to see her family for the first time in four years.

Despite immediate medical assistance from crew and emergency services, she could not be saved. Qantas later learned of her suspected tuberculosis and initiated limited contact tracing. The Department of Health, Victoria, is screening those potentially at risk, but broader contact tracing for other passengers will not be conducted.
