In a unique legal case in Tanah Merah, a Syariah Lower Court has accepted a man’s oath of denial that he never pronounced a divorce against his second wife. The wife is alleged to have two husbands. The oath was taken by the first husband. The case involves Rahaman K A Mohamed Jaafar, who took an oath with a copy of the Quran (Islamic religious Book) before the judge. The judge ruled that Rahaman and the plaintiff, Wan Nor Shakirin Wan Abdul Razak, are still legally married unless new evidence is presented.
