JOHOL, Feb 21 — A 50-year-old woman accused of stabbing her 80-year-old mother in the neck with a can opener at a house in Kampung Segineh, Inas, Johol, has been remanded for seven days to assist police investigations. Kuala Pilah District Police Chief Superintendent Mustafah Hussin said the remand order, issued by Tampin Magistrate Mohamad Redza Azhar Rezali, runs from February 21 to 27.

However, the process is being carried out at Hospital Tuanku Ampuan Najihah after doctors directed that the suspect be warded for further medical observation. The suspect, a single mother of two who is currently unemployed, was arrested at about 8pm on Friday at the house where the incident occurred. Police have yet to record a formal statement from her, as her responses have been inconsistent and appeared to indicate hallucinations.
