Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz says he is for a rejig of the new road map for a progressive reopening of the economy.
His latest overtures to the opposition are to include their proposals in a bid to tone down increasing public criticism against the government.
The ruling PN coalition is facing daily attacks from the public over a range of issues, from ministers to lockdowns. Comments on social media networks are mostly anti-government.
This is what Zafrul has to say in the exclusive interview with the Hong Kong-based SCMP.
Zafrul last week held rare talks with opposition figures. He met with former PM Mahathir Mohamad, former finance minister Lim Guan Eng and members of the Keadilan.
“It’s important for people like me especially who are trying to draft and formulate this recovery plan that we listen,” Tengku Zafrul said in the Zoom interview on Friday.
He also held talks with reps from the PN.
“I want to make data available to all because when they have data, they will get to give the right advice … meaning good feedback that is relevant and updated based on the current situation”.
He also says MPs will be able to question the recovery plan during the upcoming Parliament sittings.
